What’s included

Clear, careful work with no jargon

R&D relief is for companies that work to resolve scientific or technological uncertainty, whether that’s developing new software, improving a product or refining a process. Our R&D tax credits accountants in London review your projects, identify qualifying costs such as staff time and materials, and prepare the claim with clear supporting evidence. An R&D tax credits accountant in London can check whether your projects fit before you spend time on a claim.

HMRC looks closely at these claims, so we focus on getting it right rather than inflating it. Claims generally need to be made within two years of the end of the accounting period. If it’s your first claim (or your last was over three years ago), you also need to tell HMRC within six months of the end of that period or the claim will be invalid, so it’s worth checking sooner rather than later. You can also build a quote on our Get a quote page.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

Who can claim R&D relief?

Companies spending money on projects that seek an advance in science or technology by resolving uncertainty. It isn’t limited to labs; software and engineering businesses often qualify.

What costs can be included?

Typically staff costs, subcontractor payments, materials and software used directly in the R&D. We’ll identify what applies to you.

How long do I have to claim?

Generally within two years of the end of the accounting period the costs relate to. First-time claimers (and anyone who hasn’t claimed for over three years) must also submit a claim notification form to HMRC within six months of the end of the period, or the claim is invalid. If you think you may qualify, don’t leave it too long.

Will a claim lead to an HMRC enquiry?

HMRC reviews claims carefully, which is why we build them on clear evidence and an honest technical explanation. A well-prepared claim is the best protection.
